DROWNING POOL Pays Tribute To PANTERA With New Single "Mind Right"

Drowning Pool will launch their first new report since 2016 Strike A Nerve and is now streaming “Mind Right.” According to guitarist CJ Pierce, the brand new single was written proper after Vinnie Paul handed away in 2018 and is a tribute to each the Abbott brothers. And positive, I can completely see how the only is impressed by Pantera – it has that groove steel swagger the band was identified for, although the frantic breakdown and squealy guitar solo at two minutes actually displays that traditional Drowning Pool nü-metal-type sound.

“‘Mind Right’ started with the core Drowning Pool sound, then really dug into our southern metal roots,” stated Pierce. “This song was written not long after Vinnie Paul died, as a tribute of sorts to him and Dime and a way for us to honor the impact Pantera had on our local Dallas scene. It’s probably the heaviest song we’ve recorded, but it’s the perfect way to close ‘Strike A Nerve’; like the title of the song says, we all need to get our minds right. We need to see what’s going on around us, stand up for what we believe in, and always focus on the bigger picture. We can’t wait to play this one live!”

Strike A Nerve is out September 17. Pre-orders can be found right here.
